Ethical Solutions are Rarely Cut and Dried.
Every rational human being knows the difference between right and wrong.
It is the gray areas where we have difficulty. Just because someone
thinks an issue or incident is ethical or unethical doesn't necessarily make it so, even if most around us at the time think
it is.
Ethical Dilemmas Can Overwhelm Us
Awareness of new or profound ethical issues increases with every media alert as modern
communications brings it into our living rooms or exposes it on the Internet, ethical issues we never even knew existed. The
spotlight certainly makes it seem our global society is getting worse rather than better. But those who pine for the "good
old days" overlook the past; societies were protective and closed; embarrassing issues were better left unsaid rather than
exposed.
Even though these moral dilemmas existed, a code of silence often kept them from being revealed.
Unfortunately that code still exists at all levels in our society. By facing these dilemmas head on today encourages us to
seek help in solving those sticky issues and permits us to appreciate what can be done to make our homes, workplace, and society
more safe, ethical and morally right and true.
Ethics 911 is an ethics FREE ZONE.
CEFE will accept or reject questons based on an
issue by issue basis. CEFE may not comment on an issue but rather suggest other venues that
may better serve the dilemma submitted.
